Saturn 3

1980       Farrah Fawcett

It is the next millennium.

Under the day-glo lights of space-station Titan, buried deep beneath the surface of Saturn's third moon, two chemists seek new forms of food for an exhausted planet Earth.

Their world is a cocoon of futuristic creature comforts, housing plant life of unearthly lushness. It is controlled by gleaming computerized gadgetry.. .and laced with sinister tunnels of fluorescent blue.

It is a space-age Eden. The two scientists work and live together in idyllic isolation. . .until a visitor arrives, bringing with him the parts for a monster robot - and a psychopathic taste for sex and murder.

Farrah Fawcett, Kirk Douglas and Harvey Keitel star in the AFD release, Saturn 3 The futuristic thriller is a Lord Grade Presentation in association with Elliott Kastner of a Stanley Donen Film. Donen produced and directed the screenplay by Martin Amis from a story by the late John Barry. Martin Starger was executive producer, and the music was by Elmer Bernstein. England's much-honored Billy Williams was director of cinematography,

and the film was shot at the Shepperton Studio Centre outside London.

Saturn 3 marks the first venture into science-fiction for Grade, the legendary British showman who heads ITC Entertainment, and also for Donen, whose films over the past thirty years have stressed wit and style ("Indiscreet," "Charade," "Funny Face") . It is Donen's second teaming with Starger, who is president of Marble Arch Productions and Associated Film Distribution. The pair's first joint effort was on Grade's recent hit, "Movie Movie."

The space-age love story escalates into horror when the "robot helper" sent from Saturn Survey headquarters is finally assembled. The 8-foot humanoid - the first in the Demi-God series - is a mass of gleaming metal, simulated brain tissue and plastic tubing through which vital juices pulse.

Named Hector and designed to be the most efficient lab-helper ever built, he is programmed by direct drain from the demented brain of his creator, Keitel. . .and is congenitally insane. As he absorbs his master's lust for Farrah's body and Douglas' life, he runs amok through the defenseless space-station.

Then Saturn goes into its 22-day eclipse, cutting Titan's lifeline to the rest of the Universe.. .and they are alone. The four of them.
