Scream Blacula Scream


1973       William Marshall

The cultured rumble of William Marshall's voice recreating his role as the dread Blacula in American International's "Scream, Blacula, Scream," which opened in 1973.

Since starring in the role of the world's first black vampire in the original horror-bit "Blacula," Marshall has managed to become the world's most honored vampire. As a direct result of his portrayal of the "Prince of Darkness," Marshall has been nationally sought after by literally hundreds of groups, clubs and colleges, as a contemporary expert on everything from acting to the solution of world problems. He is actually a world renowned drama teacher and recognized authority on Black History.

A few of the honors he has garnered include, Best Actor of the Year; "Blacula," best picture, by the Academy of Horror Films and Science Fiction Films; Best Actor, "Blacula," Best Picture-the Count Dracula Society and an honorary degree from the Florida State University at Tallahassee, where he acted as consultant and guest of honor at a recent Black Cultural Week.

Sharing honors in AIP's sequel film

"Scream, Blacula, Scream," where the reluctant Blacula is brought back to this world by means of a Voodoo ceremony, is beautiful Pam Grier, as a priestess of the cult. Also co-starring is Don Mitchell of television's "Ironside" fame. The film was produced by Joseph T. Naar, producer of the original and was directed by Bob Kelljan. Offering able support in an acting capacity are Bernie Hamilton, Richard Lawson, Michael Conrad, Barbara Rhoades, Janee Michelle, Don Blackman and Lynne Moody. Being introduced to film audiences for the first time is talented young actor, Richard Lawson.

Voodoo starred lovers Don Mitchell (of television's "Ironside" fame) and Pam Grier, star of American International's recent hit "Coffy," appear as co-stars to William Marshall's Blacula in AlP's "Scream. Blacula, Scream". He is a young criminologist investigating the dread vampire and she is a high priestess of a voo-doo cult who becomes involved with Blacula Joseph T. Naar is producer with Bob Kelljan directing.
