Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer a romantic comedy starring Kristy Swanson, Donald Sutherland and Paul Reubens, with Rutger Hauer and Luke Perry, opened in 1992. Twentieth Century Fox Presents Buffy the Vampire Slayer a Sandollar/Kuzui Enterprises Production. Fran Rubel Kuzui directs the film, with Kaz Kuzui and Howard Rosenman producing. Sandy Gallin, Carol Baum and Fran Rubel Kuzui are the executive producers, and the co-producer is Dennis Stuart Murphy. The screenplay is by Joss Whedon.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is about Buffy (Kristy Swanson), a strong-willed and popular high-school cheerleader who discovers she is the latest in a long line of girls chosen by fate to slay vampires.. .which puts a serious crimp in her shopping, and prompts her to fall in love with a rebel named Pike (Luke Perry). Kristy Swanson, who plays Buffy, recently appeared in the Twentieth Century Fox hit "Hot Shots!" Her other film credits include "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "Pretty In Pink," "Deadly Friend," "Flowers in the Attic," "Highway to Hell" and "Mannequin Two: On the Move." Donald Sutherland

recently played the key role of Colonel X in Oliver Stone's "JFK." His other film credits include "M*A*S*H," "Kiute," "Steelyard Blues," "Don't Look Back," "The Day of the Locust," "1900," "Animal House," "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," "The Great Train Robbery," "Ordinary People," "Eye of the Needle," "A Dry White Season" and "Backdraft." Buffy the Vampire Slayer marks the first feature film for Luke Perry since his success on television's popular "Beverly Hills, 90210." International star Rutger Hauer has become a powerful and often malicious presence in such films as "Turkish Delight," "Soldier of Orange," "Spetters," "Nighthawks," "Blade Runner," "Ladyhawke," "Flesh and Blood," "The Hitcher" and "The Blood of Heroes." Featured on the Columbia Records soundtrack of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are songs by C&C Music Factory, performing their new single "Keep It Comin' (Dance 'Till You Can't Dance No More)," Divinyls, Ozzy Osborne, The Cult, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Susanna Hoffs, Matthew Sweet, Dream Warriors, Mary's Danish and Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford in his solo debut. Fran Rubel Kuzui made her directorial debut with "Tokyo Pop," starring Carrie Hamilton as a punk rocker looking for stardom in Japan and Yutaka Tadokoro as a local rocker with whom she becomes personally and professionally involved. Kuzui is the cofounder -- with Buffy the Vampire Slayer producer Kaz Kuzui -- of Kuzui Enterprises, one of the largest independent motion picture distribution companies in Japan. Kaz Kuzui, president of the company, also produced "Tokyo Pop." Sandollar Productions recently produced the hit "Father of the Bride," starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton. Other credits for the Los Angeles-based company are "Straight Talk," "Shining Through" and the upcoming "A Stranger Among Us," starring Melanie Griffith and directed by Sidney Lumet. The creative team on the film includes director of photography James Hayman ("Tokyo Pop"), editors Camilla Toniolo ("Tokyo Pop") and Jill Savitt ("China Moon"), production designer Larry Miller ("L.A. Story"), costume designer Marie France ("Encino Man") and leading stunt coordinator and second unit director Terry Leonard, whose credits include Steven Spielberg's "Raiders" trilogy. The music score is by Carter Burwell ("Barton Fink"), and the executive music producer is Ralph Sail.
